Bloganniversary Day 4 Review+Giveaway: This Shattered World (Starbound #2) by Amie Kaufman & Meagan Spooner

Hello and welcome to day 4 of my bloganniversary! On day 3 I had featured Cassandra Clare (you still have the chance to win the ENTEIRE "Mortal Instruments series) but today I hay a duo of authors who have shook quite the sci-fi genre! If you guessed it right then you are here!

Amie Kaufman
&
Meagan Spooner
"This Shattered world" is the second book on the "Starbound" Trilogy and the most world-building one of the two. We have struggles, love and anguish, but many many more mysteries!

But first let me give you a taste of the second book! ;)

This Shattered World (Starbound, #2)This Shattered World by Amie Kaufman
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Summary from GoodReads

The second installment in the epic Starbound trilogy introduces a new pair of star-crossed lovers on two sides of a bloody war.

Jubilee Chase and Flynn Cormac should never have met.

Lee is captain of the forces sent to Avon to crush the terraformed planet's rebellious colonists, but she has her own reasons for hating the insurgents.

Rebellion is in Flynn's blood. Terraforming corporations make their fortune by recruiting colonists to make the inhospitable planets livable, with the promise of a better life for their children. But they never fulfilled their promise on Avon, and decades later, Flynn is leading the rebellion.

Desperate for any advantage in a bloody and unrelentingly war, Flynn does the only thing that makes sense when he and Lee cross paths: he returns to base with her as prisoner. But as his fellow rebels prepare to execute this tough-talking girl with nerves of steel, Flynn makes another choice that will change him forever. He and Lee escape the rebel base together, caught between two sides of a senseless war.

REVIEW

When I finally got m hands on the second book I was sure that this one wouldn't have the 'soft-core' plot of the first one. On the second book we enter a planet full of swamps, rebels, a corporation of secrets and two starcrossed lovers.

I liked the way of the language and the traditions the poeple of Avon showed. Through Flynn's eyes we get a whole new culture, while from Lee's side we her past at a planet which resembled a planetary Chinatown.

The double POV worked as well as at the previous book but in here there were more characters but the same mysterious beings. Traver and Lilac also made an appearance and I have a feeling that through the second book the protagonist of the third appeared even briefly.

Since the third book is going to be published in 2015 I will simply cross my fingers and wait patiently for more advwntures from these two amazing authors!

If you've never read this series before here's my review on "These Broken Stars", the first book of the series.

These Broken Stars (Starbound, #1)These Broken Stars by Amie Kaufman
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Summary from GoodReads

Luxury spaceliner Icarus suddenly plummets from hyperspace into the nearest planet. Lilac LaRoux and Tarver Merendsen survive -- alone. Lilac is the daughter of the richest man in the universe. Tarver comes from nothing, a cynical war hero. Both journey across the eerie deserted terrain for help. Everything changes when they uncover the truth.

The Starbound Trilogy: Three worlds. Three love stories. One enemy.

REVIEW

I began reading this book after the great praise i got from fellow readers. The story follows Lilac LaRoux, daughter of the galaxy's richst man and Major Tarver a war hero. When the spaceship they are on crushes into a unknown planet they both start an attempt to find help and survive.

As the story progress Lilac and Tarver began to fall for each other while the enviroment around them changes. For me this first book of the trilogy has left me laughing and crying. Simlilar emotions got me on the "Across the Universe" series but the emotion especially on the final chapters is worth all the rally the characters have with the planet.

5 of five stars because of the descriptions, the POVs and the ability of Amie Kaufman to leap the hard core sci-fi and give to he reader the open inner world of her heroes.
