My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Summary from GoodReads

When seventeen-year-old Lilliana Young enters the Metropolitan Museum of Art one morning during spring break, the last thing she expects to find is a live Egyptian prince with godlike powers, who has been reawakened after a thousand years of mummification.

And she really can't imagine being chosen to aid him in an epic quest that will lead them across the globe to find his brothers and complete a grand ceremony that will save mankind.

But fate has taken hold of Lily, and she, along with her sun prince, Amon, must travel to the Valley of the Kings, raise his brothers, and stop an evil, shape-shifting god named Seth from taking over the world.

From New York Times bestselling author Colleen Houck comes an epic adventure about two star-crossed teens who must battle mythical forces and ancient curses on a journey with more twists and turns than the Nile itself.

REVIEW

I decided to change my review scedule (since I have around 3 other books to review) and write this one! Because, it was such an amazing book much better than Colleen's debut Tiger Saga series and also it had to do with Egyptian mythology!

My inner historian-slash-nerd-slash wannabe Indiana Jones, danced from happiness when I saw the extend of the author's research. I knew most of the myths the book showed through Amon's words and how well written the descriptions were.

Amon is a loyal and brave prince, embodied with the powers of the Sun. His other two brothers have the powers of the stars and the moon, another major celestial bodies which are also shown through the egyptian myths.

The whole book was a wild ride through pyramids, desert, temples and the jungle known as New York. Lily, despite her moments of low confidence, is a strong character who struggles to understand Amon and his mission, yet I couldn't help, in some cases, wanting to shake her because she couldn't grasp the extend of what was happening to her. Nevertheless, she stood bravely and I admired her; even knowing she was grown into riches, that didn't make her a snob, because she couldn't find the love she needed in her parents. She loves instead her grandmother who is anything but rich.

The Amon-Lily moments were really funny and I couldn't help but think of another know mummy who also makes me laugh!

The ending left me to tears and smiles. Why do I have to cry in these recent reviews, I'll never get over it. But you really need to read this book. To me, it would be the perfect fictional world to escape into and go for the adventure!
